UK Graduate Visa Route — Work After Study

UK Graduate Visa Route — Work After Study

What is the Graduate Route?

The Graduate Route is an unsponsored work visa for international students who have successfully completed a degree at undergraduate level or above at a UK Higher Education Provider with a track record of compliance.

How Long Can You Stay?

If you completed a bachelor's or master's degree, your Graduate visa will be valid for 2 years. If you completed a PhD or other doctoral qualification, it will be valid for 3 years.

What Can You Do on a Graduate Visa?

  • Work in most jobs, look for work, or be self-employed.
  • Do voluntary work.
  • Travel abroad and return to the UK.

Importantly, you do NOT need a job offer to apply, and there is no minimum salary requirement while on this visa.

Transitioning to Settlement

The Graduate Route itself does not lead directly to settlement (Indefinite Leave to Remain). However, you can switch from the Graduate Route to another visa, such as the Skilled Worker visa, which does lead to settlement.
